While on my way to music school, I was wondering if my last name is Chinese or Vietnamese. I knew my dad's father is Chinese, but my last name can also be in Vietnamese.

Me: Is our last name Chinese or Vietnamese.
Dad: Chinese, but when pronounced in Vietnamese, it's pronounced with a "y".
