The book of the tale that was never told

It all began when I was 7, my mother read me a tale from an old book of tales that would later start my adventure.
There was a mysterious character in the book of tales that I was fascinated with!
The character didn't give anything to the story but he was shown on multiple pages of the book and also in multiple tales in the book!
I can still remember the dark robe he was wearing and the glowing eyes that came from under his hood but the thing that made me curious the most was...
