This started as a dream journal, and there are a few posts to this extent in the Dreams category. Quite quickly it turned into a novelization of a world I created, called The Four Realms.

The chapters so far are short, as I prefer to keep each chapter inside of one post. I may create more extensive chapters in the future, as my plot develops and I may need to convey more, or at least more detailed, information.

I will also periodically update new character bio's, I intend to release my third one soon.

If you are just reading for the first time, it may help to click the "Four Realms" category and read the introduction chapters at the very least. Pages list chapters in descending order, so to read the first chapters you go to the highest/last page... IE, the newest chapters are listed on the first page.

Rath stepped through the fog of black mist.

He was suddenly disoriented. Directions seemed to have reversed and flipped. He shot a glance to the chamber Valyn had sent him from and it was no longer visible.

I just stepped through...
His heart raced. He recognized this place. He had been here before, trapped in a timeless eternity until Mato had rescued him. Ten years later in her time.
Calm down. Valyn told you it was going to be like this. ...

Avalydia swept her glistening red hair behind her in a fit of mild frustration. She glared towards the end of the banquet table at HIM. Valyn, that bastard.

Lindsay and Avalydia stood back to back, dressing into the provided evening wear. They were freshly bathed and beginning to get rather hungry, and had up until this moment done so in grim silence.

T4R - C10 - The Void

Rath reclined in the chair, taking the offered glass of wine and carefully sipping it, staring intently at the garish man sitting before him. Valyn grinned wildly, sitting silently, letting the question float in the air,

"What is
the void?"

What is with this man? Why is he grinning like that? What's he looking at? What kind of wine is this...
with that the glass fell from his fingers, shattering on the floor.
"What... what...

The ground opened before the boy, Liam's outstretched palm. It fell away to reveal a set of earthworn stairs spiraling down into the darkness. He jumped up on a tree stump and sat playing with his cane, seemingly content to let the group fend for themselves.

Rath entered first, summoning flame from his fingertips to light the way. Lindsay quickly followed him, still removed and vacant. Avalydia studied the boy for a moment, flung her braid over her shoulder, and went inside....
