A few weeks ago, Iran got royally pissed at the West, claiming that the US and Israel were behind attempts to sabotage it's nuclear program. They threatened to close the straights of Hormuz.

Keystone XL Pipeline

Some may be aware that yesterday, Obama rejected a Senate proposal to approve a 1700 mile oil pipeline from Alberta, Canada's oil fields to oil refineries in Texas.

The pipeline would have brought 70,000 barrels a day into the US, and created 20,000 permanent American jobs right away. It is estimated that by 2035, that number could increase to 175,000 American jobs.

While thinking deeply (dangerous, I know) about certain political issues, I connected the dots to something interesting.
