In the big picture, humans are just like those animals, and they can in fact muster control over their "immortality."

In the 1960s, that was the "immediate future."

Outside sources = things like predators, weather, etcccc
Inside sources = Heart and other organs getting too worn out and failing on it, dying of old age and stuffff

And I seee, Rawrr~

One day, though, science may advance enough, as my brother thinks, to create regeneration and create body parts that will never wither from old age, so humans can really become "forever young" and essentially immortal .x./ That's in the distant future though. o3o

It would really be horrible if humans became immortal, the population would just grow non stop and the planet itself would not be able to handle.
It's also very unlikely that that tec is possible, considering that everything would need to be made for each individual person, which sucks since regeneration would be very usefull

Well, some animals can literally live forever if not affected by any outside sources, like getting killed by another animal... Furthermore, there are trees that are over millions of years old, that have never fallen or died. So, in theory, your idea is kind of silly. But it's really hard to prove the whole thing. Because one day these things could die, or they could not. It's almost impossible to tell.

I disagree but to each their own. :D

Great. You've defined them both.

Now, in what way are those things different?

They are the same. There is no separation going on, as far as I can tell.

Treat all molecules and subatomic particles within the same field of view, and the solution is obvious.

Muscles might get worn out. But the human brain is an organ capable of complete self-sufficiency; really... if someone really doesn't want to die, from the depths of their being, their brain has the ability to respond to practically any stimuli, figure out exactly what actions are necessary, exactly what their organs--including their brain--need to do, exactly how to distribute already-present chemicals, exactly how to improve and adapt varius functions, and achieve permanent contextual "immortality."

You are correct on one point, though: stem cells are inadequate.

OH MY GOD
the population would just grow non stop and the planet itself would not be able to handle.
"It would really be horrible if humans became immortal"

The transience of human life is the exact reason for the overproduction...

While trees may be alive, I don't count them as living organisms. No animal can live forever,, because forever is not a time, it's an idea. some animals can live to be 150, but they still die. science will advance...bahumbug ridiculous...but seriously I doubt it

You don't count them as a living organism? But...that's what they factually are, according to modern biology...

So, yes, they live and die as well.

Forever is unending time.

Therefore, in theory, one might be able to live forever, because it just means never dying.

This is just a theory, but a very plausible one.

And it's not very wise to doubt science. All science can do is advance, especially at this point. Yknow? <3
