A long, long time ago, a butterfly landed atop an active volcano. It had blue wings. It was invulnerable to heat. And it was intangible. It flew into the volcano, enjoying the warmth, and then flew deeper into the earth, until it finally rested at the center of our planet. Then, it suddenly pulled a set of puppet strings out of nowhere, and dictated the actions of all other lifeforms, laughing evilly.

What are you thinking about "fevers that go on that long"?
And believe me, I've tried fever reducing medicine.

Usually, if my stories lack even a slight tinge of bittersweetness somewhere in the ending or meaning... it's for humorous purposes.
