Alienware: Is it worth the money?

Is Alienware worth the money? I heard that Alienware is supposed to be really good, but recently, one of my friend, Mr. G ( XDDD ) told me that it isn't worth it because of it is overpriced... So, what do you think?

They're not good, nor are they cheap.

You're paying for the design, that is all.

I'd only get their laptops at most, considering that custom built laptops = nearly non-existent.

If you're looking for a desktop, build it yourself, and you've saved yourself a shit ton of money for a better rig.

Agreed with topiary, it's like buying an iphone, you're buying it for the design (and more specifically for the iphone, the "trend") rather than the actual specs.

anyway, no it's not worth the money. You can get the same power much cheaper if you buy other brands. The only thing you really get from an Alienware is a cool design and some neat features that doesn't really have any practical value.

Even compared to other prebuilts they're bad. I just compared one of their x51s to a PC on overclockers and same spec the overclockers was miles cheaper and the case didn't make you want to throw up over it.

As for their laptops... 5.4kg!!! and 5.3.cm thick!!! How is that even considered to be portable?

you probably off building your own PC as powerful as Alienwares or even more for half or 3/4 the price.

there are only 3 reasons for buying alienware

1 you want the design
2 you think the time you need to build a computer yourself is worth more then what you pay for the name
3 you have enough money to not care

alienware used to be high quality but now its just dell ...

I've owned my alienware desktop for nearly a year it cost me nearly $2500(Australian) within the first 3 months i had 2 send it in for repairs for a shorted motherboard i have random crashes that come out of the blue and while it runs fast there are a lot of little things that shouldn't happen so ure better of looking around cause trust me while i do still like this computer i wish i had got a different 1 either built or store bought
