You need less than 10gig ram. Only need an i5 I guess.
Ask a forum such as "overlcockers.co.uk", tell them your price range and what you want it to do.

Atrixdog February 3, 2013 04:18 AM

I have 8GB ram and I honestly don't see the difference from when I had 4

You want a 26/28 and two 20/22's(smaller, because you have no desk), the two smaller ones on either side. Or like this |_ | (upside down obviously).

Or a lot of them.

@Nano, a job with whom, doing which type of art/drawing?
Also, I NEED HELP WITH COMPUTER BUYING + INTERNETS ;~; /wrists /wrists /neck.

nah, just a normal job maybe. either an accountant, computer programmer, or a technician. or maybe a graphic designer.
but with an illustrator job.

So, Nano, how do you have the money? ;~; Y u no help me bro.
Plus his drawing! It's awesome. Still, with drawing, y u no help me bro. ;~;

@Atrix, I could od that with 2 gig ram on an intel centrino duo, without much lag. :P Minus the game, unless it was fullscreen.

hmm, but if youre using Chrome it will slow it down, cause Chrome uses a LOT of RAM space. plus other useless background apps.

well, i only need a big RAM cause of the stuff that i want to do. plus i HATE a laggy computer.

i almost smashed a school computer once because it froze every minute, or even going to the net.

LOL. BACKGROUND PROGRAMS LAWL. They do less than .2% of your ram. Lawl.

Upgrading your graphics card, if nothing is bottle-necking your system is your best bet at a speed increase.

@toppy, you good with Pcs?

@Nano, I don't even know where to start, plus no computer to even begin those tuts.
and and... I'm crying ;~;

So, what job are you getting the paycheck from?

Topiary February 3, 2013 04:38 AM

Okay, I read the posts since I was last here.

I would just like to say, that anything above 8GB is overkill.
About laggy programs, just put them on multiple drives, as it'll lessen the strain on X drive.
For example, I have Chrome and such on an SSD, and games on a 7200RPM HDD, and stuff I rarely use on a 5400RPM HDD.

o. . . .kay O.o
but the main programs that much up y RAM are Chrome, Softimage, and PS
hmm, prolly do that,but yeah,my man priority is RAM.

well, Topiary is the biggest Tech nerd ive met here XD

heh, i dont even have a "personal" comp anymore.

hmm i dunno, maybe a job that will come out of my chosen subjects.

So... You're talking about years in the future, not as in the next few months?

Still, you're failing to help me draw. I have to admit it, I'm kind of disappointed.

If those are the applications you're going to use the most, I'd get 8GB of RAM instead of 24GB.

Why?

Put Chrome on an SSD, and it runs gorgeously.
idk about Softimage, but PS on an SSD runs great too, and it needs more CPU and GPU power than it needs memory.

If you lack memory you can always make a pagefile from another HDD

I got my SAMSUNG 830 256GB for like $250.

That's like £130-£140

And Denmark is pretty fucking expensive tech wise

maybe the price will go down in a couple of years.

Well, you can give me a push and tell me what the absolute beginning is, and find a tut that actually teaches me crap, instead of making me use exactly what it says to use, and look completely different, no matter how hard, light, or angle I press.

Which summer job? You better ask a few people at school if they know any good paying jobs for the summer. They might have family and such. I'm serious. If you don't ask. I lose some respect for you.

@Nano, you only need a SSD for programs and such. All it does is increase load up times, really fast. It's not good for gaming, and not good for photoshop I hear.

@Toppy, why not just 64gig SD card? I heard you can use (micro?)SD cards as the main harddrive in laptops, why not pc's?

Well, they have a 4 inside one HD case to make it RAID, :/

Still. The New PS3, will be 10x better than the newest one, and will have NEXT GEN discs. You know. Better than blu ray.
