Customizable Forums?

You know we can customize our own profile, why can we do it to the forums but make it so only us can see it. It change up this bland look that been here for 6+ years. It dont have to be much, just change the control scheme text fonts and colors..

Meow needs time, he's the only one working on it. There is one planned and it will come as fast as he can work on it.

That said i'm not even sure if we can even do it through vbulletin which we are using now.
I think only selecting different premade themes might be possible.

hey, why not just ditch vbulletin? theres a forum that has a store(you buy stuff using points, like xp) it also looks nice.

If an upgrade is being planned or in the works its certainly possible to get users to change their own theme. But going as far as giving users the option to completely change their theme from within the site? I've never seen a vBulletin with the capability.

But plox add a night mode feature, the eye strain is too real :D

3 reasons:

A) vBulletin requires a paid license and I'd be wary of ditching it.

B) vBulletin is the most featured board while Phpbb is the only real contender. I can imagine them being able to do it in phpbb but that would be huge project.

C) The databases, users and pretty much EVERYTHING would need to be transferred or deleted. If anyone has seen the results of such a transfer it usually ends up badly with things all around breaking.

Eh, I almost find forum upgrades more unnecessary than anything. The only suggestion I could give for the UI would be to add a Night mode. Whites are terrible for night owls.

One of the few problems to consider: At least a few signatures would "Break". Any signature that had a white background instead of using transparency (And even then, what happens if a signature is the same colour as the background you set?).

Another problem would be actually coding such a system, aside from night mode (That is an easy process to implement). A fully customisable board system might be a little more difficult to setup and I'm not even sure what the limitations of vBulletin are, in the years that I've browsed forums no vBulletin forum I've come across has had that feature.

Edit: Just looked into it, and a great example of signatures breaking would be mien, Transparent .gifs are awkward to set up, if at all. Even If I did manage to run transparency if someone set their background to #000000 it would be completely illegible.

Yea i agree, the website looks dull.. would be cool if it changed in terms of design and stuff :/

Colours would make a big difference :D

Just get extensions on your browser. It's fast and easy. Example:

I bet there are many other addons with different colors as well. And they are easy to use :P
