“Oregairu” OVAs + More TV Episodes Confirmed

"Oregairu has only made it half-way through its first season run, yet its proved so phenomenal, a whole package of new content has been confirmed – a Vita game, several OVAs, more TV episodes, and a special promise.

Four specific points of announcement have been made – the first being that at least up to volume six of the source light novel will be animated. Now on top of that, a TV exclusive work will be newly written and released to follow after episode 12 of the anime series. And as the fans will always want more, visual novels for the usual Sony consoles are coming soon as well – and even they too will come paired with bonus OVAs. Best of all, the screenplay for all this extra delight will be done by none other than the original author.

It goes without saying that this is incredible news – a superb series is receiving its much-deserved recognition and opportunity to tell its story as appropriate. This expansion should aide in quelling worries over whether the mere one season TV anime series would have been enough to tell the story properly.

This is also pleasant in that, aside from bishoujo goodness and cynical splendor to appreciate – success with new projects, of course, equates to even further ambition. If all goes well with these latest announcements, there may even be more beyond the horizon.

For a series where all is supposedly going so wrong, it certainly seems to have quite a bright future indeed."

The "Oregairu" title might have thrown some people off, who would otherwise have been excited by the news. I was familiar with the name from MAL already, having just waded (glided?) through some of their discussions about the show.
