Eastre was a celebration of springtime, the goddess Eastre was associated with rabbits as a sign of fertility, and this spring celebration timed up almost perfectly with the resurrection of Jesus. Add em all together, and you get the mythical Easter Bunny lol.

In all honesty both Easter and Christmas are taken from Paganism. Everything that is celebrated on Christmas (the tree, Holly wreaths, etc.) is the Pagan tradition of Yule. And Easter is Beltaine. They are both Pagan in origin just stolen for lack of a better word by Christians. Now that i've ranted about THAT let's get to the topic: The Easter Bunny was created by Macy's back in the day (1940s i think) to sell candy and greeting cards i could be wrong about that though. Either way Easter has become a holiday that practically means nothing except to sell chocolate and greeting cards.

But honestly I fully agree with you, From Jesus to Bunny, to Jesus to Santa, To Jesus to whatever. It's upsetting that some ppl will take "advantage" of a meaningful holiday to other's in order to make a "dollar"

Well looks like two people got here before me lol. But yeah, most Christian traditions originated from Pagan festivals. Like Grumpy said was in an attempt to convert the population to Christianity.

Also ancient Pagans tended to worship fertility, spring time was a time of renewal and new life.
Hence the symbols of the egg and the highly "active" bunny rabbit.

I`ve heard that Santa lives in finland,in a place called Korvatunturi (earfell). I`ve never seen an easter bunny,but i have heard of the easter witch. It is said that she gives chocolate eggs to kids and when they get fat,she puts them into her pot and makes them into her food!... if i remember correctly that is.

I never really though about it, but it really does baffle your mind if you do. Well it was pretty much covered already, due to pagan festivals and what not.
