I just relized what happened to that scene were one of the little girls(sorry cant remeber there names) was stabbing herself in the head I thought it was going be like the first arc and show a murder that will happen at the end and all the arcs were going to do that but apparently not

while the arcs are different, the story shares certain elements and seems to evolve.. each time, most new elements introduced carry on to the next chapter. Shion, for example, exists and is known to Keiichi from the start this time. The only thing that seems to reset is the info around the shrine god, the festival and the incidents around it..
