well if you think about it it might not have been because the guild members were overconfident...maybe the dungeon works with the average level of the party, so they expected monsters of their own level, not knowing that kiritos drastically higher level would make the monsters way too strong for them...if that dungeon works like ive said then it is kiritos fault, but if its a dungeon with fixed monster levels then it was the guild members fault

Fear of death is good, it stops you from doing stupid things and gives you courage to fight back when you are in danger, if the fight or flight mechanism wasn't there, we'd all be gone a LONG time ago.

fuck. just fuck. it really connects with me. thats difficult for an anime to touch ones emotions. but this would be better if the series was linear. instead of jumping all around. i feel like im trying to keep up with an anime on adultswim (anyone that has ever tried will know its near impossible. you will just skip around alot. much like what is happening here)

@arsl31 you read it on baka-tsuki.org right? they did not delete it. they just move it. chapter 16.5 is't really a part of volume 1. but a side story you will see it in the side story list.

About 10 minutes in, I couldn't help but feel really sad because I already read the part in Vol.1 when Kirito retold the story of Black Cats of the Full Moon to Asuna or something.
And if this anime is 12 episodes, they can't waste time on a past event like this. It just explains why he doesn't want to join a guild.
So yeah, I guess it's rushed, but it's rushed for the sake of the rest of the story.

I have this feeling that they dont actually die as the gamemaster had been arrested but those still in the game THINK they will die in reality obviously adding to an already tense situation

I can't even read some of the comments some of you guys keep spoiling since you people prefer reading the novel/manga than watching epic anime good thing I'm used to avoiding spoilers
Anyway this episode really shows how much pain Kirito has to suffered because anyone he tries to get close and befriend and promised to protect end up dying forcing him to become someone who walks the lonely path of the black swordsman until he meets a certain special someone :D

I like Sundays almost more than Saturdays because of SAO. *sobs* One thing I don't get is the combat system though, with the switching strategy..

Klein is around level 60 because in novel he said that Kirito was 10 levels higher than him. Also, in novel Klein challenged the Dragon Alliance party leader to 1vs1 duel and won and this probably wasn't the strongest Dragon Alliance party because nowhere was mentioned their leader.

well Kirito is prolly lvl 50 at end of episode(soloing event boss would have give tons of EXP i think) and i knew as soon as he said nobody in the guild would die....that someone was gonna ;L
and Klein and his friends were on the most recent cleared floor and refering to them as trash so they have be pretty decent level.

- That Kirito was able to survive in a battle against like 30 monster with no escape.
Or:
- That Klein and his group was able to fight off the all mighty Dragon Alliance guys.

Why can't a new character stay for more then one episode???!!!
Also if Sachi had stayed longer then we would get more attached to her and when she dies we would feel even more worse.
Is it just me or does sachi look like Hinata from Naruto?
I haven't seen much or Naruto so I am not 100% sure...

The main story involves Asuna and the progress of clearing the game, whereas the side stories such as this episode tells about the journeys of Kirito where important feelings,weapons,etc are involved which affects the main story.

@Iceuchiha Kirito wanted to hunt on their usual hunting grounds but the Moonlit Black Cats were too arrogant and wanted to hunt at a higher floor level, so it's obviously not Kirito's fault -_- he even told the guys to stop when they were going to open the treasure chest but did they listen to Kirito? noooo.... hehe

Anime/Manga rule promise weak girl afraid to die near the beginning of anime/manga that she will not die and you will protect her 99% she is going to die right in-front of eyes
This isn't really a bad rule because it motivates the character (after brief depression) to become insanely strong so that he can protect others

The Moonlit Black Cats are nice and all but they got too arrogant since Kirito joined -_- which is why they all died and the guild master committed suicide...It's Klein and he's now a samurai XDD with matching clothes with his friends, I wonder if he's a guild master again ^^, 7:40 Track isn't that one useful skil O.o, 8:26 oh Kirito you, 13:43 Kirito's becoming too cool and is becoming too much like somebody I know from Fate Zero [which was also a masterpiece of an anime]T_T, 16:40 and now their killing each other [PK] -_-, 17:26 awww the boss fight wasn't shown, but it sure does seem like Kirito went berserk against it, 18:35 there's nothing you can do Klein T_T Kirito's already dying inside and only Asuna could save him from his dark decent as the Black Swordsman, 21:13 The Red Nosed Reindeer T_T

@ways THIS is part of the novels, from santa quest to sachis singing [part of SAO sidestories should read it sometime].
To be honest, im suprise how close they manage to tie the anime to the novel. Even when the anime didn't tie to the novel *cough* episode 2, the action and character build was astonding. This chronological order of events from SAO(sidestories included) + extras to fill the novels gap make this a series worth watching. Looking forward to next ep.

why is everyone getting mad that they skept a bunch of levels? they're just levels and the creators of the anime are not gonna go into each level of the game. that'd be crazy to do, let alone time consuming. so please, stop complaining about the whole skipping of floor levels. also, remember that this anime is also following the manga, and even the manga didnt go through all 100 levels of Aincrad. just only the important ones. like some people commented, this floor level was important cause it showed why Kirito will always solo play and never join a guild. however, i did wish that they had gone more into depth on the fight scene between Kirito and Nicholas the Renegade, but the scene where he comes back is more emotional and fitting. and the episode was still great. so little complaints.

I really wish that this anime gets like over a hundred episodes...some crappy anime's (not naming which) get so many episodes and second seasons and such... I really hope this one that has awesome storyline stays for a long time :)

Learn to read. arsl31 also has read novels so he knows what i am talking about and agrees with me that SAO only ending would be one of the worst endings possible. ALO arc is a must. GGO was interesting but not as much as SAO or ALO. Also, i am only at 8th volume so i don't know what happens after that.

Klein won in a one on one duel against the guild party leader, at least it was so in novel. Also, there wasn't any information about the floors before besides side story about Kirito and another Beta player on first floor(last episode was a filler i think).

they're not really throwing in side stories before the main stuff they're just using all the chapters from SAO and putting them in chronological order so it's less confusing for people who haven't read the novel don't get so confused. Can't wait til they get to the 60something floor so we can get to the really juicy asuna parts XD

@Refdow LOL be happy that they even adapted Aria in the Starless Night as well as the other side stories (from volume 2 first) in chronological order. Or else you will get a 2 years time skip and end up on floor 74 for episode 2. Now stop complaining, the author already announced that he will try to write more about the earlier floors on SAO Progressive (however the main story still takes higher priority).

It's a shame, Kirito tries to join and guild and help some people, but it ends the same and the people die. He doesn't want to feel responsible for people's deaths, so he lives the solo life, knowing if he dies, no one will morn for him.

@arsl31 I believe both "Rondo of the Transient Sword" and "Monochrome Concerto" are still in work process or they were written shortly after the anime was planned. Beside the author said that he will be writing SAO Progressive which focus on the earlier floors of Aincrad. They will probably explaining the enhancing concept later on (I hope).
OT: They did a good job adapting Red-Nosed Reindeer in one episode. Sure there were things left out from the light novel but they still managed to pull it off right. Next episode the Black Swordsman (focus on Silica) then it will be a Murder Case in the Area~ (I can't wait for that one).
In my opinion, the light novel is more sad. Or maybe because I already know the out come...see there are downsides for knowing ahead what will happen too. XD

UNCONSCIOUSLY, too the same way they take a dump and piss. its like they don't feel that reactions from outside of their body in game, but they can feel anything INGAME, virtually, that is... EVEN PAIN, NAUSEA, feeling sticky all over coz of sweat or anything, and even AROUSAL (it is said too that u can have sex in game... i wonder what will be the reaction of ur body outside?)
